is a tip-refreshing compound manufactured by the brand MECHANIC. It is designed to clean, rejuvenate, and restore oxidized or blackened soldering iron tips. The product comes as a paste or cream, rather than a liquid oil. 

Purpose and function

A soldering iron tip, especially after prolonged use, can become oxidized. This appears as a dark, burnt layer on the tip and prevents new solder from wetting or sticking to it properly. S-ONE addresses this by: 

• Removing oxidation: The paste has a high-activity, weak-acid formula that chemically removes the stubborn oxidized layer from the tip's surface.

• Restoring performance: By stripping away the contamination, the compound restores the tip's ability to transfer heat effectively and accept solder.

• Extending tip life: Regular maintenance with a refresher like S-ONE can significantly prolong the lifespan of your soldering iron tips.

• Working as a protector: The formula can also help coat and protect tips to prevent future oxidation. 

How to use

The general procedure for using MECHANIC S-ONE is straightforward: 

1. Heat the tip: Turn on your soldering iron and preheat the tip to a temperature of 300–360°C (572–680°F).

2. Immerse the tip: Lightly dip the hot soldering iron tip into the S-ONE refresher paste. You only need to apply it for a few seconds.

3. Clean the tip: Clean the tip thoroughly using a damp soldering sponge or a brass wire cleaner to remove residue.

4. Re-tin the tip: After cleaning, apply a small amount of fresh solder to the tip to "tin" it and protect it from re-oxidation.

5. Repeat if necessary: If the tip is heavily oxidized and the regenerative effect is not yet obvious, repeat the process.
