The MECHANIC CS-12 High Toughness Ceramic Tint Scraper is a tool designed to remove window tint and adhesive from glass surfaces. Unlike traditional metal blades that can scratch glass, the CS-12 uses a ceramic blade known for its hardness and durability.

Features and benefits

  • High toughness ceramic blade: The ceramic material is strong, hard, and resistant to dulling, which ensures a long-lasting and sharp cutting edge.

  • Scratch-resistant: When used properly, the ceramic blade is less likely to scratch or damage glass surfaces, a significant risk with metal razor blades.

  • Professional-grade: It is often used in auto detailing and by window tinting professionals, but is also suitable for DIY projects.

  • Effective for residue removal: The sharp blade is effective for scraping off stubborn adhesive and glue residue left behind after peeling off old tint.

  • Multi-purpose use: The tool can be used for other applications requiring a precise, tough scraping tool, such as cleaning glue from phone screens or cutting film.

How to use it for removing window tint

While the ceramic scraper is a key tool, effective window tint removal also requires the use of heat or chemical solutions.

  1. Heat the tint: Use a heat gun or steamer to warm the window tint. This softens the adhesive, making it easier to peel away. You can also use a mixture of soapy water and a trash bag on a hot day to create a heating effect.

  2. Lift an edge: Once the tint is warm, use the corner of the ceramic scraper to carefully lift an edge or corner of the film.

  3. Peel the film: Once you have a loose corner, pull the tint film off the glass slowly and steadily. For stubborn sections, use the scraper to gently assist the peeling process.

  4. Remove leftover adhesive: After the film is off, use the ceramic scraper in combination with a window cleaner or adhesive remover to scrape off any remaining glue residue.

  5. Wipe the glass: Finish by cleaning the window thoroughly with a glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth to ensure a clear, streak-free surface.
