The Aifen A9 Plus is a soldering station that uses C210-series tips with its compatible handle. These tips are known for precision and rapid heating, making them suitable for fine-detail electronics work.
C210 tips and compatibility
The
C210
is a tip and heater cartridge in one, designed for high-performance micro-soldering and fine-pitch components.
Integrated design: A C210 cartridge combines the heating element, temperature sensor, and tip. This reduces thermal mass and allows the station to heat up extremely fast and maintain a stable temperature.
Station compatibility: The
is specifically built to be compatible with C115, C210, and C245 tips, each requiring its corresponding handle.
Industry standard: The C210 form factor was originally developed by JBC, and many third-party brands like Aifen now produce stations and compatible tips that follow this standard.
Advantages of C210 tips with the
Fast thermal recovery: The integrated tip and heater design gives the
and C210 tip excellent thermal performance. When soldering a component, the tip can quickly recover its set temperature, allowing for efficient and stable soldering.
High precision: C210 tips are available in very small sizes, including conical tips as fine as 0.1 mm. This makes them ideal for intricate work on small electronics, such as mobile phone or BGA repairs.
Variety of shapes: Beyond fine conical and chisel tips, C210 cartridges are available in a variety of other shapes, including bent, knife (K-tip), and larger chisel styles for different applications.
How to use C210 tips with the Aifen A9 Plus
To use C210 tips with your
Aifen A9 Plus
, you must use the correct handle.
Select the correct handle: Ensure you have a C210-compatible handle for the A9 Plus station. You can buy the station in a package that includes the T210 handle, or purchase the handle separately.
Insert the tip: The cartridges can be swapped easily. Simply pull the C210 tip straight out of the handle and insert the new one. The station's software detects the new tip and prevents heating until it is properly seated.
Perform initial tinning: Before using a new tip for the first time, insert it into the handle and heat it to a low temperature for about five minutes with some solder applied. This "tins" the tip, which improves heat transfer and longevity.
