The 2UUL DW21 Solder Away Anti-Hot Desoldering Wick is a tool for removing excess solder during electronic repair and maintenance. It comes in an ergonomic dispenser with an anti-scalding nozzle and a built-in wire twister for efficient use.
Key features
Anti-hot dispenser: The "gun-type" or grip-type shell design features an anti-scalding nozzle made of stainless steel, which protects your hands from heat.
Efficient tin absorption: Made of pure copper, the precision-braided wire and integrated flux provide high capillary action for quick and efficient absorption of molten solder.
Low residue: The wick is non-halogen and features a low-residue, self-cleaning, and oxidation-resistant flux.
Convenient design: A thumb-wheel wire twister makes it easy to control the amount of wick being pulled out, and simplifies storage and recycling of unused wire.
Dimensions: The wick is typically sold in a 2-meter length and is 2.0mm wide, a versatile size for many repairs.
Professional use: It is specifically designed for high-precision jobs like repairing mobile phone motherboards, BGA, and other sensitive PCB circuit boards.
How to use
Using the 2UUL DW21 desoldering wick is a straightforward process:
Prepare the area: Identify the unwanted solder you need to remove.
Unroll the wick: Use the dispenser's thumb wheel to unroll a fresh portion of the copper braid.
Apply heat: Place the tip of your hot soldering iron on the wick, and place the wick on top of the unwanted solder joint.
Absorb the solder: Wait for the heat to transfer, which will melt the solder and activate the flux. The solder will then be absorbed into the wick through capillary action.
Remove the wick: Once the solder is absorbed, lift the wick and the soldering iron at the same time to prevent the wick from being soldered to the board.
Discard used wick: Trim off the saturated, used portion of the wick and discard it, so a clean section is ready for the next use.
